Acme Sculpture (Taipei) – Breast Augmentation Part 1 (Consultation)

Happy me almost one month after the surgery!
If you are wondering what made me take the plunge in having this breast augmentation surgery:
(a) I was a good B plus cup to C before I was married. After 5 years of breastfeeding, it had decreased to a miserable A upon losing all the fats.
You could read about my breastfeeding journey in my earlier blog.
(b) I had lost a considerable amount of confidence in dressing up as I was unable to wear a portion of the wardrobe apparels and the brassiere which does not fit anymore. I tried to avoid certain clothes as I felt it looked weird on me with small breasts.
(c) I was offered this opportunity and upon checking on the credibility of the clinic, I decided to take the plunge to regain my confidence in dressing up as before which I used to have.
This was me back in 2010.
This was me before the surgery in June 2016. I am sure you could see the difference.
Acme Sculpture Clinic is located at MRT SongJiang NanJing Station, Exit 1, walking by 1 minute. Its highly accessible for me as I usually stay around Ximen which is just 3 stops away. Located on the 5th floor, I was welcomed by the spacious white entrance and lobby.

On the first day of my arrival, there was a few tests that were required. We started with blood tests.

Followed on by urine test…

I was led by 2 nurses to change into this robe to prepare for the consultation where specific measurements of the breast and nipple were taken.

The whole consultation was done professionally by Dr. Yu with the whole experience accompanied by 2 nurses. He was soft spoken and did not make the whole experience feel awkward at all.

There was a discussion on my expectation, the kind of alternative and what was recommended based on the measurement and body shape. I was then given a sport bra to try on with the suggested size/shape to conclude the end result. I wanted a size that would be proportion to my frame which would be more to a C from A. My right side needed more volume than left side, thus 275 c.c. on the left side and 300 c.c. on the right side was recommended.

Dr Yu also explained that due to the thickness of my skin, the implant would be placed behind my breast muscular muscles as my upper pole skin is thin. Transaxillary (armpit) incision would be advised as it would not be obvious after a few months. The end decision was to use Mentor Textured Memory Gel Round Implants due to my body shape. He would also be doing nipple rectification due to the damaged caused by breastfeeding.

Mentor Textured Memory Gel:
MENTOR® MemoryGel® Breast Implants contain the latest generation of silicone. They are prefilled with Mentor’s uniquely formulated silicone gel. This gel is not like a liquid or a semi-liquid. Instead, it is a cohesive gel that holds safely and uniformly together to deliver a natural feel that closely resembles breast tissue.

The surgery would be carried out by endoscopy. By using an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, it enables greater precision in cutting, resulting in lesser blood loss and smaller wound.

Dr Yu also mentioned that I would need to have 2 attached tubes to contain the excess blood in order not to have uncomfortable blood clots on the initial 1 to 3 days depending on individual. I would be expected to have an “engorgement” feeling and should avoid handling heavy items more than 1kg as well as no holding up my hands by the side.

My details was taken down in this form and I was given a booklet to read through before the surgery to commence on the next day. My surgery was planned at 930am and I was not supposed to eat or drink anything by 130am. One week before surgery any Vitamin E and chinese herbs like ginseng are not to be consumed.

I was then taken to another clinic to do an ultrasound scan on my breast for any lumps or any abnormalities before I left.

Being mentally prepared for the next day, I felt a tinge of nervousness as it’s considered my very first plastic surgery.

Follow my next post on the surgery itself and post surgery experience.
