You have no ideal way back then how much I enjoyed the American musical comedy film version of Sister Act back in 1992 starring Whoopi Goldberg as a lounge single who has been put under protective custody in a convent. Obviously the wrong fit for her resulting in a series of comedy incidents. I am not a comedy film goer but this was one that I did not want to miss.
It turned out to be one of the most financially successful comedies of the early 1990s, grossing $231 million worldwide. This musical certainly came at the right time for me, more than 2 decades later to reminisce the songs.
I was touched to tears way back then with the beautiful and happy vocals singing songs of Faith. Wonderful choice of songs and story and nearly got me standing up to move along to the music in the theatre for I was once a Choir soprano singer way back in my school days. I certainly missed those times in the choir.
Thus, I am definitely filled with anticipating to witness this musical to be performed right in Singapore.
SYNOPSIS
SISTER ACT is Broadway’s feel-amazing musical comedy smash! The New York Post calls it “RIDICULOUSLY FUN,” and audiences are jumping to their feet in total agreement!
