I was blessed to be offered a stay at this young artistic hotel, part of the fashionable Eslite shopping complex on Wuchang street in Ximending at the where the bustling young and energetic crowd congregate.
Upon arrival, I was welcomed by the artistic cartoon figurine drawn by the 2 founders themselves. The lobby was filled with drawings of of Ximending and the growth progress how how Amba first started in 2012 in Ximending with 160 contemporary rooms. Zhongshan in 2015 and followed up by the upcoming one in Songshan in a few months time.
吃吧 （chiba) is a lively international cafe, one of the place when you could dine with ease decorated with many nolstagic decor. There are many books collection like recipes, comics and many others where you could spent the afternoon alone or with your friends. A family friendly location spacious enough for your strollers and have the kids run about and having hands on fun with the many toy figures on the shelvings. The space is divided by the bookshelf and you could plan your events here too. It also feature an open kitchen filled with fresh produce, communal seating, fun food and pastas.
听吧 (tingba) is a retro chic music lounge where regular mini concerts, DJ mix are held. The many speakers, wall backdrop decorated with vintage jeans and the soft fabric sofas created the right cozy ambience while you enjoy the music.
Introducing my room! Simple, functional with thoughtful surprises in the room. I was given a comfortable king size bed which was made with 100% natural unbleached linen and really spacious all for myself. There was a smart Sony TV and a writing desk in case you need to do your work. The design of the bathroom is unique as the basin is situated outside with a huge mirror. The bathroom and toilet are separated so if you are sharing this room with a friend, you won’t need to fight to freshen up. There was also a curtain divider to separate the bedroom and the basin area. Each room comes with 2 pairs of colourful trendy amba flip flops and some Taipei nostalgic tidbits which you could bring back for souvenir.
What I really appreciate was the Ginger bath amenities by all-natural socially responsible Taiwanese brand Two Acres. Reminded me of my confinement time.
All the rooms and hotel areas come with free high-speed Wifi, electric kettle, mini fridge, electronic safe, hairdryer, free access to the ice/ RO filtered water dispenser on every level and free usage of the self service laundry room.
Nothing beats a good breakfast after a rested night! I was spoiled for choice with the live rice roll station with 12 fillings and white/purple rice to choose from. Porridge , salad, deli, bread, eggs and warm food stations right at chiba.
After hearty breakfast, I was given a tour around the place. Each level has its own style and artistic element infused into it. Level 6 has the floor number with 3D furnishing design on it. Love the colourful lifts that would lift up the mood of any traveller at anytime of the day. Notice the huge drawing mural showing the sights in Ximending drawn by an artist.
Level 6 also comes with a laundry area, that allows you to do your own laundry during your stay.
I was fascinated by level 7 again by the vibrancy of the life design.
You could book this spacious Balcony Room with loads of daylight but I would advise you to book in advance as there are only 2 rooms available on the 10th floor. I love the balcony much as it would meant I could read and sip my wine as I enjoy the view in comfort. Perfect for that OOTD shot anytime too. Lol…
Enough of my rattling on this lively place, you got to experience it to know what I had been enjoying.
